Providence High School – AP Language and Culture
Mar 2026 · 2nd Semester
This course is designed for highly motivated students to gain advanced proficiency in speaking, reading and writing. Students should have a strong command of vocabulary, structure and culture. This class further exposes them to various authentic materials and media sources, movies and contemporary fiction. The AP exam, which is given in May, emphasizes the use of language for active communication, therefore students must be able to fluently and accurately express ideas and produce own genres of writing. Instruction centers around six AP themes: Global Challenges, Science & Technology Life, Contemporary Life, Personal & Public Identities, Families & Communities, and Beauty & Aesthetics, which are outlined on myap.collegeboard.org. College credit can be earned if a student has an AP exam grade of 3 or higher. This class is conducted $100 %$ in the target language. Prerequisite: level IV Honors. Students with a high B or A in level III Honors may skip IV, but only with the teacher’s recommendation.
