Providence High School – CTE Advanced Studies (Horticulture)

This course is for seniors who have earned two horticulture credits. The advanced studies course will prepare students for success in transitioning to post-secondary education and future careers. Students work under the guidance of the agriculture teacher in collaboration with community members, business representatives and other school-based personnel. They take on leadership roles in the classroom and the greenhouse. The exhibit responsibility and initiative working around the school, in the greenhouse and the gardens. The four parts of the course include writing a research paper, an on-campus group project, developing a portfolio, a 45-hour SAE project and presentation. Students demonstrate abilities to use $2 1 ^ { \\mathsf { s t } }$ century skills, leadership and are encouraged to start careers in our local agriculture businesses for the SAE project. Prerequisites: Horticulture I and II. $1 2 ^ { t h }$ grade only.
