Prerequisite or Co-requisite: Principles of Business Management Open to: 10, 11, 12 Credit: 2 RW: Dual Credit Accounting introduces the language of business using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and procedures for proprietorships and partnerships, employing the principles of double-entry accounting. Emphasis is placed on accounting principles as they relate to both manual and automated financial systems. This course involves understanding, analyzing, and recording business transactions, as well as preparing, analyzing, and interpreting financial reports to inform decision-making. First semesterbegins with bookkeeping concepts and then bridges those skills into concepts and principles of accounting. Students are introduced to the accounting cycle and banking practices relevant to a service-oriented business. Second-semester students will study accounting and payroll systems and subsystems utilizing journals, ledgers, and financial statements for a merchandising business. \*\*Students will have the opportunity to earn dual credit through Vincennes University as long as they meet the Vincennes requirements.
