Basic Accounting is a 36-week course with 15 lessons. Each lesson takes 6-7 hours to complete and includes an assessment. During the semester, students study the basic concepts of accounting by relating accounting to real-life situations. This course introduces students to accounting concepts and principles, financial statements, internal control design, and accounting for partnerships. By the end of the course, students will be able to define terms related to business accounting, apply accounting concepts and principles, prepare financial statements, analyze financial statements for decision making, evaluate internal controls, account for partnership transactions, and differentiate international financial reporting standards from generally accepted accounting principles Students may take the first semester of the course without taking the second semester, but may not take semester 2 without taking semester 1.
