IED is a foundational high school engineering course that introduces students to the engineeringprofession through the use of the engineering design process. Students solve real-world problemsusing a structured approach involving design briefs, modeling, prototyping, testing, and evaluating.The course emphasizes 3D computer modeling (CAD), additive manufacturing (3D printing), andstatistical analysis as tools for informed decision-making. Students gain experience in technicalsketching, reverse engineering, materials science, and systems design, working both individually andcollaboratively to develop and communicate solutions. Key professional skills developed includeproject management, technical writing, and presentation.
