Point Loma High – Film Arts 1, 2

This two semester course will examine the art of film using multiple approaches. Students will examine the historical growth of film (inception and development), the defined (and some not-so-defined) genres of film, (drama, western, science fiction, crime, animation, musicals, and action/adventure), craft (how films are made – technique, innovation, technology), and style, examining the specific style of several trademark directors. The course objectives will enable students to understand and evaluate films more effectively and with greater confidence. Students will also create a short film project during second semester. Please note that the course curriculum includes controversial and "R" rated films.
