1 Credit This advanced “College Level” course provides students with instructions and applications of advanced technical skills and musical knowledge through the study of varied band literature of the grade 5-6 level. Course content includes the advancement of tone production, rhythms, ensemble skills such as balance, blend, articulation and tuning through the study and performance of college level concert literature. Public performances are expected and required to meet the performing arts requirement (once a week after school commitment). These include but are not limited to FBA District and State Concert Assessment, State and National Conventions, Winter, and Spring concerts. Selected members of this ensemble will participate with the Philharmonic Orchestra. Participation in the Football Stands Band is required; participation in the Marching Band is voluntary but highly encouraged. Activity fee, uniform rental fee and/or instrument rental fee are required, additional fees for participation in the Marching Band and national performances. May be taken as Band I, II, III, or IV depending on student’s number of years enrolled in High School Band. Juniors and seniors may take Band V/VI for honors credit.
