Plant High SchoolAP Music Theory

Mar 2026 · 2nd Semester

This course contains the study of fundamental terminology, notational skills, key signatures, and transposition during the Common Practice Period. Two-part counterpoint, harmonization of melodies and four-part realization of figured bass symbols will be studied. Extensive melodic, rhythmic, and harmonic ear training will be included. Completion of the class and a successful pass score on the AP exam will earn students an elective credit for college. Future Music Majors should take this class.
