Pershing High SchoolIB Theory of Knowledge

Mar 2026 · 2nd Semester

The Diploma Programme (DP) Theory of Knowledge (TOK) course provides an opportunity for students to reflect on the nature of knowledge, and on how we know what we claim to know. This course is central to the IB philosophy. TOK is comprised almost entirely of questions, pushing students to analyze the definition of knowledge and how we know it by focusing on types of evidence, evaluating best models, and real-world implications of theories. Through discussions of these and other questions, students gain greater awareness of their personal and ideological assumptions, as well as developing an appreciation of the diversity and richness of cultural perspectives.
