This course for advanced music students focuses on musical composition. Students will study composing and when possible, perform original works.  Attendance is required at all rehearsals and performances outside normal school hours. Audition is required for placement into some dance classes and teams.  Most Dance I courses receive one Fine Arts credit, plus 1 credit for Lifetime Fitness and Wellness pursuit, which is indicated as “CREDIT:2 (FA 1 + PE 1).” Other Dance courses receive one Fine Arts credit, plus ½ substitution credit for PE, indicated as “CREDIT:1.5 (FA 1 + PE Sub .5).”   The TEKS for both Fine Arts Dance and PE/Wellness will be delivered, and the teachers are certified in both.  A supply fee may be required for Dance Courses.  If the fee poses affordability issues for the family, students and parents may discuss options with the administration, teacher or school counselor.  Some waivers of fees are available for those in financial need.  Finances should not be a barrier to enrollment in Fine Arts courses. Dance students participate in multiple district and campus performances. Students have the opportunity to participate in the Dance Educators Assessment of Learning (DEAL).
