This course introduces students to the theatrical arts. Theatre appreciation, analysis, and creative exercises are emphasized. Areas covered in depth include theatre vocabulary, history, roles in theatre, movement, acting, and the viewing and analysis of theatre performances, including musical theatre. Theatre history lessons focus on Greek and Roman roots, Shakespeare, and early American theatre. Students will participate in speaking, body, acting, and dancing exercises.
