The purpose of this course is to provide instruction that enables students with disabilities to acquire and use strategies and skills to enhance their independence as learners in educational and community settings. Skills focused on in the Learning Strategies class include, but are not limited to: The use of instructional and assistive technology to locate and access information, participate in computer-based instruction or testing, solve mathematical problems, create documents or images, and communicate with others. Use time management and organization skills and strategies to complete class and work assignments. Use appropriate social skills and strategies to interact with peers and adults in settings such as cooperative learning, small- and large-group activities, accepting feedback, and resolving conflicts.
