Parrish Community High School – Approaches to Leadership Honors

The intent of this course is to facilitate the integration of Cadets to perform meaningful service-learning projects, Cadet improvement Plan development and execution, and Joint Program of Accreditation (JPA) readiness each year. Second-, third-, and fourth-year students receive instruction in leadership, citizenship (current events and American government), communication, and first aid. Third and fourth-year students also serve as assistant instructors. This program emphasizes leadership training and the responsibilities of American citizenship. In addition to government, history, and communication classes. The student’s grades will be based on their development, management, and execution of service-learning, cadet improvement, and JPA programs within the student leader’s sphere of influence. This course is offered as a second honors course for all key leaders within the JROTC program. This course will only be offered during one class period each school year. Key leaders and staff members are expected to participate in and lead Cadets at extra-curricular and community outreach activities. A class fee of $35.00 is required for the purchase of the PCHS JROTC Polo shirt, which will be worn by key leaders at special functions, as well as one day per week during class. Prerequisite: students must be concurrently enrolled in JROTC as LET2, LET 3, or LET 4 and have completed Leadership Strategies 1. ## School-Based Leadership
