Students build on the foundational knowledge and skills obtained in Medical Laboratory Technology I. The student uses the basic principles and skills necessary to continue their studies in these additional medical laboratory disciplines: Clinical Microbiology, Immunohematology, Coagulation/Hemostasis, and Clinical Laboratory Biotechnology techniques. Competencies includes performing the technique correctly, understanding the theory of the procedures, and the proper interpretation of results. Laboratories stress actual student performance of the routine tests normally seen in the clinical setting. Students may have the opportunity to participate in organized field experiences. This course is part of the Loudoun Governor’s STEM Academy. This course does not have a lab fee. MATA Nurse Aide I SEM
