This course is the first semester course in the MATA Administration of Justice sequence. This course prepares students for entry-level employment in the law enforcement and criminal justice field as well as entrance into institutions of higher learning in the related fields of criminal justice, political science, and law. Topics include, but are not limited to criminal justice professions, ethics, communication skills, report writing, interpreting criminal and civil laws, use of force, emergency response, traffic control, vehicle stops, crime prevention, patrol functions, community policing, criminal investigation, search and seizure, arrest and court procedures, corrections, the juvenile justice system, crime scene investigation, Civics and the Constitution, and crime prevention. This course is part of the Loudoun Governor's STEM Academy.
