Park View High – MATA Radiology Technology I DE

The course informs students early in their study of what they can expect from a career in radiologic technology, requirements for certification, options for advancement, and what is required of them as allied healthcare workers. The student develops an understanding of the radiographer as a central member of the health care team and a valuable assistant to the radiologist. This curriculum is designed to prepare the student to understand the anatomy and physiology assessed in diagnostic images of the human body. The student develops an understanding of the safe use of radiation within the medical field. Additional topics of study include the history of the radiological profession, medical ethics, concepts of imaging, radiobiology, radiation protection, human diseases, medical terminology and the future of radiologic technology careers. This course is part of the Loudoun Governor’s STEM Academy.
