Park Glen Elementary – Advanced Journalism Yearbook I-III

Students enrolled in Advanced Journalism: Yearbook I, II, III will explore the elements and processes necessary for producing their high school’s yearbook. Proficiency in typing, copywriting, and photography is helpful. Specialized writing, interviewing, advertising, design and layout, and editing are taught and practiced in this writing-intensive course. Students will understand the consequences of plagiarism and apply ethical and legal standards in their work, including copyright law, the fair use exemption, and the ownership of intellectual property. Strong, independent writing abilities are essential, and students must be willing to attend events outside of the school day and devote additional time to ensure assignments are completed and deadlines are met.
Prerequisites: Contemporary Media or Photojournalism. Application may be required.
