The Beginning Art Appreciation course introduces students to the fundamental concepts of visual art, focusing on how to view, analyze, and understand a wide variety of artworks from different cultures, time periods, and styles. Students will explore the elements of art (such as line, color, and form) and principles of design (such as balance, contrast, and unity) while learning how artists use these tools to communicate meaning and evoke emotional responses. This course is ideal for students with little or no formal background in art who want to broaden their understanding of the visual arts, as well as their ability to recognize and appreciate artistic expression in everyday life.
