Orange Grove High – Robotics and Automation Technology1a-1b
Mar 2026 · 2nd Semester
This year long course is designed to engage students in interdisciplinary learning of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) skills through a hands-on, project based approach. Students will design and construct a robot capable of performing a series of tasks as specified by the instructor to solve problems related to those found in the manufacturing and logistics industries. Amatrol learning centers will allow students to become proficient in foundational skills relevant to manufacturing and logistics automation technicians. Students will practice implementation of industrial safety practices according to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines, refine skills in print reading and tool and machinery use, increase understanding of the applied physics concepts utilized in hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems, develop advanced logic concepts through AC and DC electrical programming activities, and further expand creative abilities through the design of multi-dimensional models using computer aided design (CAD) software such as SolidWorks which are then produced through production methods such as CNC machining, injection molding, 3d printing or others. In addition to technical skills, “soft skills” such as project management, teamwork, and conflict resolution will be overtly taught and practiced.
