Orange Grove High – Pre-Vocational Education 1a-1b

This course is designed to introduce high school aged life skills students to skills needed to make a successful matriculation into one of our district transition programs. Goal areas include, but are not limited to, exposure to some pre-vocational areas that will be measured throughout the year, such as in seat behavior, on task attention span, following single and multi-stepped directions, appropriate contacts with supervisors (teaching staff), following safety rules, peer interaction skills, self help skills, career exploration in classroom, complete tasks independently and develop self-control of attitude, exposure to measured areas such as in class endurance, in class independence, in class production and group situation learning behaviors and learning styles (peer modeling, teacher modeling, etc.) immediacy and approximation of compliance to instruction (verbal and nonverbal), conducting a personal inventory, developing social exchanges, and exploring a variety of interests and values. This course is designed for students enrolled in the SH-SDC/Life Skills (Severely Handicapped-Special Day Class/Life Skills) program who a current I.E.P. Notes: Grade Range $1 8 +$ /Transition.
