This course introduces the theatre student to a specific genre-musical theatre. Students develop all aspects of theatre production as well as singing and dance. Musical theatre combines theatre arts with music and dance. This course may include instrumental musicians and dancers as well as theatre arts students. Performances may involve the collaboration of various teachers including music teachers, choreographers, and theatre teachers on one or several campuses. All aspects of professional performance will be highly stressed: creative expression, aesthetic valuing, cultural and historical awareness, music skills, dance practices, theatre production techniques, theatre technology, lighting, and more.
