This course is designed to increase academic skills necessary to participate in everyday life with goals for maximum independence. To be functional, these dills must be related to some real activity that the student encounters in daily living. Functional academics skills are learned and applied in a variety of environments. Instruction occurs in both classroom and community settings. Goal areas include, but are not limited to, using and comprehending recipes, communicating and writing personal information, verbalizing sequences. Reading functional words, telling time to follow a schedule, using money to make purchases, increase expressive vocabulary, functional safety, loaning library books, improving writing skills, writing simple correspondence and keeping a journal. Notes: Grade Range $^ { 1 8 + }$ /Transition. Pass/No Pass
Prerequisites: Enrolled in the SH-SDC/ Life Enrolled in the SH-SDC/ Life with a current I.E.P.
