Take an interest in your future. Through the use of many resources, including the Internet, students will learn the following: opportunities available at the high school level; curriculum planning, athletics, and activities; to be able to explore the University they plan on attending; and identify the career path that interests them most. Through these lessons students will cover many business standards including but not limited to time-management, study skills, effective communication skills, conflict resolution skills, creating a personal budget, how to use a computer and its applications correctly, and how to give an effective presentation. Students will learn broad-based business skills that will facilitate the combination of academics and technical knowledge. Language arts skills will be used in a co-curricular format to allow students to develop oral and written business communication skills. Students will use critical thinking, decision making and problem solving skills that are needed for the fast paced and high performance needs in the workplace. Students will also learn how to gain employment through the effective use of resumes, applications, letters, interviewing skills, and business etiquette. Upon completing the class students will have completed a personal portfolio that will guide them with their future and assist them in being effective life long learners.
