This course is designed to make students aware of the health careers and specific preparation for sports medicine and emergency medicine occupations. This course provides a wealth of practical applications that will introduce you to the medical world. Extensive coverage of medical terminology, human anatomy, legal responsibilities, emergency procedures, soft tissue and bone injuries, nutrition, physical fitness, environmental concerns and career opportunities will be covered in this course. This course will also briefly cover causes, symptoms and a management of injuries. This course is designed to introduce students to different careers and allow students to identify their career path. This course is intended for students interested in becoming an athletic trainer, physical therapist, physical therapist assistant, occupational therapist, occupational therapist assistant, physician, physician’s assistant, nurse practitioner, licensed practical and vocational nurse, paramedic, emergency medical technician, orthotics and prosthesis, health technologist, medical equipment sales person, nutritionist, and any other medical or emergency professional.
