THispanic Cultures is a comprehensive course designed to introduce high school students in grades 9-12 to the rich and diverse cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. This course is taught in English, making it accessible to all students, regardless of their prior language learning experiences. The course aims to foster cultural awareness, appreciation, and understanding by exploring the history, traditions, customs, art, literature, and contemporary issues of various Hispanic communities. Students will explore the cultural diversity of Hispanic communities, including those in Latin America, Spain, and Hispanic communities in the United States. Students will engage with and analyze Hispanic art and literature, gaining insights into the creative expressions and narratives that define these cultures. Students will develop cultural competence by examining nuances, traditions, and customs, enabling them to navigate cross-cultural interactions with sensitivity. The course will incorporate project-based learning activities, allowing students to apply their knowledge and creativity in exploring specific aspects of Hispanic culture.
