This one-semester course examines the intricate relationships between thestructural and physiological functions required for the mental, physical, social,and emotional wellness. Topics include decision making, wellness, nutrition andphysical activity, body systems, substance use and abuse, communicable andnon-communicable diseases, violence prevention, safety, and consumer health.Sex education and sexually transmitted infectious disease education, withinestablished guidelines, is an integral part of this course. Instructional practicesincorporate integration of diversity awareness including appreciation of allcultures and their important contributions to our society. The appropriate use oftechnology is an integral part of this course. The course fulfills the one-halfcredit of health required for high school graduation.This one-semester course provides an introduction to career choicesand promotes lifelong learning. Topics include exploring values,interests, aptitudes, and abilities that serve as a foundation forestablishing a career path. Instructional practices incorporate integrationof diversity awareness including appreciation of all cultures and theirimportant contributions to society. The appropriate use of technology isan integral part of this course. This course fulflls one half of one of theelective credits required for high school graduation.
