This one-year course provides students with an introduction to theprinciples, chemistry, and techniques of food preparation. Theclassroom is patterned after industry with emphasis on thestandards of food service occupations. ProStart™curriculum is anintegral part of this course. Instructional practices incorporateintegration of diversity awareness including appreciation of allcultures and their important contributions to society. Theappropriate use of technology is an integral part of this course. Thiscourse fulfills one of the elective credits required for high schoolgraduation.Note: This course may allow students to earn college credit from theCollege of Southern Nevada.
