This one-year course is a survey of political, social, and economic issuesrelated to education in society. Students will evaluate current events ineducation and their effect on society. Teacher Education program studentswill be introduced to research techniques necessary to gather detailedinformation about educational topics. Students will learn and practice avariety of methods of presenting and sharing opinions about educationalissues.Individual and group research presentations, including paneldiscussions and debates, are major course components. Students willexperience actual teaching as they present projects in mini-teachingscenarios. Instructional practices will incorporate integration of diversityawareness including appreciation of all cultures and their importantcontributions to our society. The appropriate use of technology is an integralpart of this course. This course fulfils one elective credit required for highschool graduation.
