This one-year course is designed with an emphasis on meeting therequirements of the College Board Advanced Placement AP Seminarexamination. This college-level curriculum engages students in cross-curricular conversations that explore the complexities of academic and real-world topics and issues by analyzing articles, research studies, andfoundational, literary, and philosophical texts; listening to and viewingspeeches, broadcasts, and personal accounts; and experiencing artisticworks and performances. Students learn to synthesize information frommultiple sources, develop their own perspectives in research-based writtenessays, and design and deliver oral and visual presentations, both individuallyand as part of a team. Ultimately, the course aims to equip students with thepower to analyze and evaluate information with accuracy and precision inorder to craft and communicate evidence-based arguments. Instructionalpractices incorporate integration of diversity awareness including appreciationof all cultures and their contributions to society. The appropriate use oftechnology is an integral part of this course. This course fulfills one of theelective credits required for high school graduation.
