Drawing I: This one-year course is designed to give students a strongfoundation for drawing through the study of basic drawing techniquesand the use of a variety of media and subject matter. Students willparticipate in exercises in art appreciation and critique to learn topersonally consider and judge art. Problem solving, creativity andoriginality will be cultivated through planning, art making and reflection.The development and influence of drawing for communication andexpression will be integrated into learning. Various styles and artistswho have used drawing throughout history are introduced. Theconnection of drawing to other visual arts disciplines and to disciplinesoutside of the arts will be investigated. Instructional practices willincorporate integration of diversity awareness including appreciation forall cultures and their important contribution to our society. Theappropriate use of technology is an integral part of this course.
