This one-year course emphasizes the importance of effectivereading, writing, listening, and speaking and how they relate tothe teaching profession. This course helps students develop thepoise and confidence necessary to communicate ideas anddirections in a positive manner. Computer technology and mediaequipment is utilized and integrated as effective communicationtools. Teacher Education program students will practice anddemonstrate various communication skills throughout this course.In early childhood and/or elementary/secondary school setting,students will complete actual classroom observations andteaching activities to evaluate the effectiveness of thecommunication areas explored in this course. Instructionalpractices will incorporate integration of diversity awarenessincluding appreciation of all cultures and their importantcontributions to our society. The appropriate use of technology isan integral part of this course. This course fulfills one electivecredit required for high school graduation.
