North Stafford High – Arts, Culture, and Society
Apr 2026 · 2nd Semester
This interdisciplinary course introduces students to the history of the arts and their powerful role in shaping cultures and societies across time. Through the study of visual art, music, architecture, literature, and history, students will explore how creative expression both reflects and influences human experience, identity, and community. Emphasis is placed on examining the connections between artistic movements and social change, and the ways in which the arts have driven innovation, communication, and cultural exchange. Students will engage in discussion, analysis, and project-based learning to develop critical thinking and creative perspectives. As the anchor course for the Specialty Center, The Arts, Culture, and Society provides students with a strong foundation for advanced study in digital content creation, multimedia, music production and audio engineering, live event and project management, and visual arts. Note: Ensemble courses (band, chorus, and orchestra) are performance-based courses that involve participation in concerts and other performances and rehearsals outside of class time. There may be a requisite instrumental rental fee and uniform fee for students in these programs.
