Note: This course requires participation in activities outside the scheduled class period, including evenings and weekends (minimum of 5 hours per week). Prerequisite: Sports Medicine I, completion of an application, and an interview. The focus of this course is the application of knowledge and understanding gained in Sports Medicine I. Students will have hands-on experiences in preventing, recognizing, evaluating, and providing emergency care for athletic injuries to sports team members under the supervision of a certified athletic trainer. A requirement of this course is that the student must serve as a student assistant for the athletic trainer for at least one sport season after school.
