North Harford High – MU50W: Honors Band

This is a weighted honors performance course offered to advanced band students in grades 11-12, who show an interest in being a peer mentor/tutor and future music teacher or music major in college. Students will be eligible to take this class through an interview process. Honors Band is designed for advanced instrumental students who wish to continue to develop and improve their musicianship skills and those of their peers. Students will primarily be coached to lead rehearsals of music from various styles and genres. They will be exposed to learning to play various instruments and to repair and maintain instruments properly. Along with having regular written and reading assignments, and in-class student and teacher evaluations, students will become leaders in daily classroom activities, planning with the teacher. This is a performance class requiring out-of-school time including evenings and possible weekends. Students taking this course must accept the responsibility of attending outside-of-school performances which are graded. Students may take this course more than one time.
