Norco High – Drawing & Painting 1a-1b

This course is designed for students with advanced interests in increasing technical skills in drawing and painting mediums and techniques. Students will explore problems in representation and interpretation leading to individual expression and a strong use of the principles of composition. Projects may include watercolor, oil, acrylic, charcoal, scratch board, pencil, and ink. The expression of artists past and present will be presented. The individual student may pursue mediums and techniques at a more personal level, while developing a more academic understanding of traditional and contemporary expression. Students will be expected to produce a quantity and quality of work respective of their level of achievement. Students will maintain a portfolio that will include a journal, sketches, and other pertinent works of art.
