Norco High – Advanced Studies - Games & Simulations 1a-1b
Mar 2026 · 2nd Semester
A culminating course, Advanced Studies focuses on an essential question in a selected career pathway containing thirty technical credits. Two courses should be a first and second level course and one highest-level course. The course is applicable to all Career-Technical Education program areas. The course project includes a paper, a working portfolio, a presentation, and a project. As a base for developing the course project, students use knowledge, skills, and attitudes attained from previous courses taken. The project must be of sufficient depth to require extensive review of literature. With mentor assistance and interviews, the project should lend itself to identification of a problem, examination of possible solutions or directions, and analysis of the impact of solutions. In addition, they will write, speak, solve problems, and use life skills such as time management and organization. Students work under the guidance of a Career-Technical Education teacher/facilitator in collaboration with community partners, business representatives, and other school-based personnel. Skill development and career-technical student organization leadership activities provide opportunities to apply instructional competencies and workplace readiness skills to authentic experiences.
