Niwot High School – Intermediate Sculpture

This course provides an opportunity for students to continue work with a variety of media in the development of three-dimensional forms. The course begins with reviewing the basic design principles and builds on skills developed in Beginning Sculpture, students will apply and further develop additive, subtractive, modeling, and assemblage techniques. Media projects can include, but are not limited to plaster, wood, paper, metal and clay. Students who take this course should have the prerequisite Beginning Sculpture, and show initiative, diligence and a desire to develop their artistic voice. In addition to work created in class, students will be expected to work outside class time, participate in critiques and discussions, complete daily exercises to advance skills, maintain a sketchbook, and prepare their work for showings.
