This course is designed for the student to extend their health-enhancing level of physicalfitness and provide the student with the opportunities to demonstrate and expand theircompetency in at least one lifetime activity including individual, partner, and/or teamsports as outlined in the South Carolina Physical Education Standards. The student wilcreate and implement a training plan for participation in a physical activity event outsideof the physical education class. The student will assess his/her physical fitness level andextend his/her fitness portfolio by developing/reviewing and revising a personal fitness Physical Education and Health Courses program tailored to the chosen activity and create a nutrition plan addressing the nutritional needs before, during, and after the chosen activity. The student will apply their learning by designing strategies for including individuals with diverse backgrounds and abilities in the chosen activity. This course is an elective at the high school level for students who have successfully completed the physical education requirement for graduation. It cannot be used for the PE graduation requirement. The course must have a distinct course curriculum, syllabus, and pacing guide and must be a separate course from PE 2 and PE 3. Unified PE Course Code: | 1 Elective This course is a training course for Special Olympics, focusing on partnering general education students with students participating in Special Olympics in an effort to prepare for competition.
