Nexton Elementary – EMS 1

Emergency Medical Services (EMS 1) is the first in a sequence of courses. EmergencyMedical Services 1 is designed to teach students how to recognize and respond to variousemergencies. Students will review basic anatomy and physiology as it relates to injurymanagement and treatment. Students will review basic information needed for all phasesof a healthcare professional. Information that students are exposed to willinclude legaland ethical implications, communications, safety, infection control and professionalism. Inthis course, students will learn what skills are necessary to recognize and care foremergencies in adults, children, and infants until professional medical help arrives.Students will obtain FA/CPR/AED certification. Students will be required to perform lightphysical activity.
