Basic instructs students to meet and exceed standard knowledgeneeded to be a valid Emergency Medical Technician. Thecurriculum includes skills necessary for a student to provide entrylevel emergency medical care, life support, and ambulanceservice. The EMT—Basic course is an introductory course toconcepts, knowledge, and skills needed by EMTs in the areas ofcommunications, transportation, and recordkeeping. Studentsinterested in working in public safety, including fire, police, andambulance operators will be capable of performing the jobexpectations of an EMT safely and effectively after thecompletion of this course.
