In Film Criticism, the student studies the history, development, and art form of the motion picture and its influence and reflection of society. The student studies the language of filmmaking, techniques of filmmaking, and literary and technical analysis as criteria for evaluating films and literature from around the world. The student also applies media literacy techniques by “reading” visual images as “texts” and by comparing/contrasting original novels and stories to corresponding screenplays.
