This course provides entry-level training for students seeking employment in the auto body industry. Employment possibilities include auto body technician, auto body helper, sander and masker, frame straightener, insurance adjuster, and body shop manager. Instruction covers shop safety; proper use of welding equipment; proper use of hand, electric, and pneumatic tools; hydraulic power equipment; frame equipment tools; and job-search/job-keeping skills. Painting techniques also are taught, along with the proper use of painting tools. Successful completion of the transportation program of study gives students the opportunity to earn National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) certification. This course is offered in single-period and double-period formats.
