Monacan High – C8316h - Honors Sports Medicine

Sports Medicine is a comprehensive course that teaches students about medical conditions and injuries as they relate to athletes and a physically active population. The year begins with an overview of Sports medicine to include careers in the field, how to handle emergency situations and environmental considerations. The majority of the course covers musculoskeletal anatomy and physiology at each joint. We cover common sports related injuries at each joint as well as how to diagnose, treat and rehabilitate these injuries. Along with this, we learn bracing and taping techniques and how to create an appropriate rehabilitation program for many of these injuries.
