In Advanced Unmanned Aircraft Systems students learn the applications of small, unmanned aircraft systems (SUAS) such as photography, videography and analysis of data collected through sensors and cameras. Students receive hands-on instruction in piloting a SUAS while learning about various sensors, flight operations, regulations, and commercial flight planning. Students will prepare for Unmanned Aircraft Systems which prepares students to fly drones under the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Part 107 guidelines. Students get an overview of the national airspace system, FAA regulations and the design and operation of small drones. Students monitor weather, address loading and performance of drones and coordinate flight operation logistics. They perform administrative tasks, train to fly and, finally, fly small unmanned aircraft systems (SUAS). Students must be 16 years of age in order to take the FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate. (Has a Course Fee/Charge), (Industry Recognized Credential available in this course), (Work-Based Learning Opportunities may be available in this course), (Technology Student Association (TSA) Membership available in this course) Through case studies, simulations, and project-based learning, students will apply financial concepts to real-world scenarios, develop strategies for managing personal wealth, and analyze how businesses make financial decisions in a competitive global economy. Ethical considerations, financial literacy, and the impact of technology on financial systems are woven throughout the course. By the end of the course, students will be prepared to take the AP Business and Personal Finance exam and will have developed practical skills that support lifelong financial well-being, postsecondary study in business, finance, or economics, and careers in related fields. (Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Membership available in this course) AP Cybersecurity is a rigorous, college-level course designed to introduce students to the foundational principles, practices, and ethics of securing digital systems in today’s interconnected world. Students will explore topics such as networking, cryptography, system vulnerabilities, threat detection, risk management, and cyber defense strategies. Through hands-on labs, simulations, and real-world case studies, students will learn how to identify, prevent, and respond to cyber threats. Emphasis is placed on problem-solving, critical thinking, and responsible digital citizenship. Students will also examine legal and ethical considerations in cybersecurity, including privacy, intellectual property, and the role of government and industry in maintaining secure digital environments. By the end of the course, students will be prepared for success on the AP Cybersecurity exam and will have gained practical skills that can lead to industry-recognized certifications, postsecondary study in computer science or information technology, and careers in the rapidly growing field of cybersecurity.
