Mojave High School – Latin American Studies

This yearlong course studies the historical and political relationships between the United States and Mexico, Central America, South America, and Cuba. It addresses American expansionism and protectionism, American imperialism, American involvement in Latin American affairs, and America's policy toward dealing with disreputable governments and strategies, both past and present, to carry out those policies. This course also delves into contemporary problems in Latin America. To be successful in this course, students must be able to read at grade level, analyze and draw conclusions, and be able to write using the conventions of English grammar.
