American Sign Language (ASL) 4 strengthens the interpretive, interpersonal and presentational communication skills of students, by focusing on the implementation of higher-level vocabulary and grammatical structures. Performance-based activities enable the students to express themselves in practiced and new situations with greater independence. Films, readings, and other authentic resources are used to enhance understanding of Deaf culture. Communication in the classroom (teacher-student and/or student-student) takes place exclusively in ASL.
