Mcneil High School – American Sign Language ASL I

ASL I is an introduction to American Sign Language and the Deaf community. The main emphasis is on expressive skills (signing) while developing receptive skills (understanding signing). Students will be guided in recognizing the interrelationships of language and will develop a cultural appreciation for the Deaf community. The expected outcome of this course is to develop Novice-Mid to Novice-High proficiency. This course is conducted in ASL (without voice) for a significant amount of time
