ENGLISH IV SHELTERED INSTRUCTION is designed so that studentsengage in activities that build on prior knowledge and strengthen theirreading, writing, and oral language skills. Students will read British literatureand write on a daily basis. They will read and understand a wide variety ofliterary and informational texts, compose a variety of written texts with aclear controlling idea, coherent organization, and sufficient detail, know howto locate a range of relevant sources and evaluate, synthesize, and presentideas and information, listen and respond to the ideas of others whilecontributing their own ideas in conversations and in groups, and learn how touse the oral and written conventions
