Marriotts Ridge High – AP Seminar Grades 9, 10, 11, 12

The high school English program is designed to fulfill the Maryland State Department of Education’s requirement that each student earns four credits in English. All students must earn one credit each in English 9, 10, 11, and 12.
Prerequisites: AP Seminar is a foundational course that engages students in cross-curricular conversations that explore the complexities of academic and real-world topics and issues by analyzing divergent perspectives. Students learn to investigate a problem or issue, analyze arguments, compare different perspectives, synthesize information from multiple sources, and work alone and in a group to communicate their ideas. This course may be taken on its own or as a prerequisite to AP Research, which is expected to be available starting in the 2026- 2027 school year.
