Marriotts Ridge High – American Sign Language II

Prerequisites: Prerequisite: American Sign Language I Students will continue to build skills learned in American Sign Language I. New vocabulary will be added as students learn to increase their speed of expressive and receptive signing. Films and field trips will provide opportunities for students to learn about deaf people and their culture. Note: Course may not meet all colleges’ entrance requirements. Prerequisites: American Sign Language II Students will further develop expressive and receptive skills. Areas of concentration include vocabulary building, grammatical structures, and conversational proficiency. While the primary focus of this course will be American Sign Language as a language, elements of Deaf culture and history will also be integrated through readings, lectures, projects, and guest speakers. Note: Course may not meet all colleges’ entrance requirements.
